The Raiders made some noise this offseason — Geno Smith is now under center, and rookie Ashton Jeanty was drafted to juice up the run game. On paper, that’s exciting. Finally, some fresh firepower for an offense that was flat-out painful to watch last year.
But here’s the real question, Raider Nation: Can this offensive line hold it together long enough for those moves to matter?

The Good News
The left side feels pretty solid. Kolton Miller is the rock. He just got a big payday — three years, $66 million — and he earned it, ranking 14th out of 140 tackles last season. Next to him, Dylan Parham has been quietly reliable at guard. That side of the line shouldn’t keep you up at night.

The “We’ll See” Side
Now, the right side is where things get interesting. DJ Glaze seems locked in at right tackle, but imagine being a young lineman going up against Maxx Crosby in practice every day — trial by fire, right?
Then there’s Jackson Powers-Johnson. He was supposed to be the center, but Jordan Meredith jumped into that spot. Meredith hasn’t played center in a real NFL game yet, but he’s holding it down in camp. That bumped Powers-Johnson over to right guard, where he’s learning fast.
Oh, and don’t forget Alex Cappa just came back from a rib injury. So yeah, there’s a lot of moving parts here.
Depth = Yikes
Here’s what worries me: the Raiders might only trust seven guys on the entire line. Injuries happen every year, and if one or two starters go down… things could get ugly quick.
Why This Matters
Look, the numbers don’t lie. Last year, the Raiders were:
- 29th in scoring (18.2 points per game)
- 27th in yards (303.2 per game)
- Dead last in rushing (79.8 yards per game)
That’s brutal. Smith and Jeanty are supposed to flip the script, but they can’t do anything if the big guys up front can’t protect or open lanes.
Even Jeanty knows it:
“You’re working hard and blocking. I’m going to take advantage of those blocks and make the big plays down the field,” he told reporters.
What’s Next
Cut-down day is almost here, and Pete Carroll (still weird saying “Coach Carroll” in Silver & Black, right?) will have some tough choices to make. He’s been vocal about liking the effort he’s seen, but depth is thin, especially in the trenches.
Also, some quick notes:
- RB Raheem Mostert missed practice for family reasons.
- CB Kyu Blu Kelly (battling for a starting role) is sidelined with a hamstring issue.

💭 So, Raider Nation, what do you think?
- Are you confident in this O-line or sweating bullets?
- Can Geno Smith really thrive in Vegas, or will he be running for his life?
- Is Jeanty the missing spark for a bottom-ranked run game?
